performance with torso of unfired clay, paper darts and PVC blowgun
Who Gives a Toss! – Willem II Fabriek, ‘s-Hertogenbosch (2015)
The mould of my own body that I have been using since 2008, served once more as the basis for a work that turns spectators into accomplices in its destruction. Modeled on the Venus de Milo, the torso has been installed in the exhibition space; the clay has not completely dried yet and the sculpture needs some support. I am sitting in a chair, making a supply of arrows from the pages of an art magazine. Using a narrow PVC tube for a blowgun I shoot the first arrows at the sculpture and proceed to hand out blowguns and arrows to the visitors, who participate enthusiastically and comment every hit.
